The Open Graph Image Generator supports two standardized image formats optimized for modern social networks, messaging clients, and search engines.

Choosing the Right Size

1. size=landscape (1200 × 630 px) — Universal Social Standard

The landscape size is the recommended default for all standard web content and social sharing.

  • Universal Compatibility: X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack, Discord, and Google Discover specifically render 1200×630 images for rich link previews.
  • Single URL for All Platforms: Both Open Graph (og:image) and Twitter Cards (twitter:image with summary_large_image) use this exact 1.91:1 ratio.
  • Crop Tolerance: Social crawlers display this image with an approximate 1.91:1 ratio. Keep critical text and logos within the central safe area (at least 60px padding from all edges).

2. size=square (1200 × 1200 px) — Square Visuals & Profiles

The square format is tailored for author profiles, avatar showcases, and square feed distributions.

  • Ideal when using the profile or product template with an avatar or brand image.
  • Renders at crisp high-DPI resolution (600×600 display at 2× pixel density).

Safe Area & Padding Guidelines

All built-in templates incorporate strict responsive layout rules to ensure readability across devices:

  • Horizontal Margins: At least 64px padding on left and right borders.
  • Vertical Margins: At least 48px padding on top and bottom borders.
  • Typography Auto-fit: Long titles automatically wrap or scale down using deterministic HarfBuzz and Satori line-breaking algorithms to prevent clipping.
